Lessons Learned from the World’s Most Energy Efficient Data Center

Subtitle

Slides from U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) presentation at Data Center World 2018. In this session we will discuss our holistic approach to design the world’s most energy efficient data center, at the This high-performance computing (HPC) data center has achieved a trailing twelve month average power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.04 and features a chiller-less design, component-level warm-water liquid cooling, and waste heat capture and re-use. We provide details of the demonstrated PUE and energy reuse effectiveness (ERE), and lessons learned during four years of production operation.
